You are able to overcome

Image
Overcoming      Was there a time when you told yourself, "I am not able to overcome that sin?" "I am not able to overcome my old self?" Maybe you have said this when you had a circumstance in your life and there was no way out. Well, it seemed as if there was no way out. Maybe you are going through something right now in your life and you are telling yourself, "No way, there is just no way I am going to overcome this in my life." Whatever that might be; debt, sin, a problem in life, issues at work, family issues, divorce, etc. We all go through these moments in our lives that throw us off a bit. Reading Numbers and in the 13th chapter, we read the story of when Moses sent one man from each tribe to check out the land of Canaan. It was beautiful, amazing, even had good fruits, but these men were afraid for some reason. They said, "We came to the land which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit." (Numbers 13:27 ESV).

We belong to God!

WE BELONG TO GOD ALMIGHTY!      Reading Leviticus and what I noticed over and over again is how God keeps telling Israel that they belong to him and that they need to be consecrated to him. Reading the 20th chapter puts goosebumps on you because it is about child sacrifice and sexual immorality. Leviticus 20:7-8 says, "Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. Keep my statutes and do them; I am the Lord who sanctifies you." (ESV). We see this same message from God later in the 22-26 verses. I know that this promise belongs to the nation of Israel, but I know through the blood of Jesus it belongs to all of us who believe. If we have gave our life to Jesus and are born again, we must now live it out. God tells them to not only keep his statutes, but to do them. Often times I even catch myself talking about this and that, but not doing anything. In this evil generation we must separate ourselves for God and keep Gods commandments. Keep the W

Tell others "how" rather than "tell" them to do it

How? Not "Go do it."      Reading through Leviticus right now and it is a hard book to read I'll tell you that. But, I made a decision for myself that I would read it carefully and not try to space out when I read it. I read through the first seven chapter which talk about the "how" part. God tells Israel to bring their offerings, but before that he told them how to do it. You see, many people today just preach about worshiping God and what that means. I can even come up and tell others that they need to pray more and read their Bibles. How does that help them? If I told someone to go and to to wash their car without them knowing, it won't be efficient. I am pretty sure Israel could have made some stuff up and bring some offerings to the Lord, but God wanted it to be done a certain way. He is not a God of chaos but organization. I will look at only two verses here because there is a lot overall here that I can look at. Leviticus 7:37-38, "This is t

NEW HAS CAME

NEW HAS CAME      T he new has came; 2020. What will we choose to do this year? What are some of your goals and challenges you want to face this year? It is officially 2020 and it is crazy to think about that. In Psalms 90:12 Moses prays, " The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty, yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away" (ESV). We are flying. Spending the New Years with our youth and my friends, we had a discussion about this. One of my friends told me that he does not make resolutions, he just does it. We say so much that we often fail to put it into action. In the beginning of 2019, or towards the end of 2018, we made maybe resolutions. We might have failed and maybe succeeded. I challenge you this year to put your words into action and start doing more. Resolutions are good in all if we do something about them. I personally have a lot to work on. We all have areas in our life that we can improve on, b
